vertical Learning
Imagine a tall tree as a metaphor for dance. Imagine the trunk represents the steps. And the vast canopy and root system is all of dance. It is possible to approach this tree, this dance, from inside of a box that limits the view horizontally to only the trunk. People spend a lifetime looking at the trunk never understanding the life and beauty that is the whole tree.
A microcosm approach brings a vertical view from which a deeper understanding is achieved from a mastering of a short list of essentials.
Much of what there is to learn about tango requires the conscious experience of movement. But moving from point A to point B to point C is not the point of tango. The whole of tango is contained between the points, between the steps. Let’s explore between the steps…
